Repairing Credit As A Disabled Person

If a disability has caused you to have a difficult time paying off your debt, you may be wondering if there will ever be a way for you to repair your credit. As the old saying goes: “where there’s a will, there’s a way,” you can fix your credit.

The First Step…
As with anything difficult in life, taking the first step is often the hardest part. Living with a disability is more than hard and fixing your credit may seem hopeless, but it is not. The first thing you will want to do is contact each of your creditors and/or collection agencies and try to work out a payment plan. Of course, if you are on a fixed income then the initial payments will need to be very small. Next, you will want to find some way to make a little extra side cash. Depending on your level of disability, finding work on a computer (i.e. online) could provide endless possibilities. You could find an at-home job where you are able to work your own desired hours and within your specific abilities. Alternatively, you could contact your state or local disability association to see if they have any job placement opportunities.

Having a disability does not automatically mean that you will no longer want things out of life and sometimes you need good credit in order to obtain those things. Therefore, it is important to avoid giving up and continue to work towards your goals despite any disability.
